An idea for evangelism in the local area Minutes from last meeting (17/10/08):

1) Who, where and when decided

Locations: Boronia park and Eastwood library park Time: 3-5:30pm People:Hopefully this can come under the Movement flag and will involved mainly crossfire and EDJ members but not restricted to these groups

2) Refined vision and objectives

Vision: To see the people our local community be shown the gospel and to come to know Jesus. Objectives: a) To establish and build relationships with the local students so that we can present the gospel to them and be a bridge for them to begin and further their relationship with God b) To be witnesses of Jesus in all areas of our lives so that those around us may see that we are followers of Christ and to continue demonstrate Christʼs love in all situations c) To be fully reliant on Godʼs power to change through prayer

3) Items regarding members involved

• A bible study to get a clear biblical picture of this whole thing would be nice • No real training for the members involved they are expected to continue their own bible reading and draw support from their own groups • A quick debrief at the end of each session to bring up any issues or encouragements

4) Random logistics stuff

Each session will have 3 official guys there in “shirts” running it and everyone else will be in normal clothing so its not so intimidating

• Why evangelises?

• 14For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again….20We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15,20

• Who evangelises?

• God:The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you. Galatians 3:8
• Jesus: One day as he was teaching the people in the temple courts and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, together with the elders, came up to him. Luke 20:1
• Followers: Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. Acts 8:4
• You: It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers. Ephesians 4:11

• What is involved in evangelising?

• But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. 2 Timothy 4:5 • Who can/should be involved? - To be a part of this a clear commitment needs to be made. Who is suitable? and who decides? • Name? - Crossdudes? Jamaica? Fuzz? Lamp? Candy Mountain? • Launch date? - School holidays begin in 6 weeks, trial run? - Uni exams in approx. 3-4 weeks • Brainstorm ideas for the 10min evangelistic presentation and attractions - Dra-mimes, Illustrations, Songs, interactive games, guitar bar, Basketball, • Get a idea of the roster - Who can do what days? who can do it NOW!?
